Step 1: Are We a Match?

Thank you for considering me in your search for a custom jewellery designer! I love working with clients to bring their jewellery visions into reality, whether it’s breathing new life to an heirloom piece or creating a brand new piece.

First, let’s make sure we’re a good match, as I only take on custom orders when our style aesthetics align!

Check out my Instagram and Etsy shop for a sense of my style. If you like what you see, get in touch and let’s collaborate to create your dream jewellery piece.

Step 2: Let’s Connect

First, we’ll set up a time to connect, either in-person or by email.

I’ll ask you questions to get a sense of your vision and show you gemstone and design samples. This will help me get crystal clear on what you want.

Feel free to share any photos, illustrations, or other sources of inspiration with me at this stage too!

Step 3: Design Fun

Here’s where it gets really fun for both of us!

I draw inspiration from everything we discussed and develop your custom design.

I send you images and references so you have a clear picture of what the final piece will look like. (Sketching is not my forte, which is why I prefer to send reference images for your review!)

When you’re happy with the design, you give your nod of approval and pay a 50% deposit.

Step 4: It’s Hammer Time!

Once you’ve approved the design, I’ll get my metalsmithing tools out, including my trusted hammer, and get to work creating your custom piece of jewellery.

The turnaround time will depend on the complexity of the design as well as my current workload. I promise I’ll keep in touch with you throughout the process, so you have a clear idea of when your piece will be ready.

Step 5: The Big Reveal

It’s time for the big reveal of your finished custom jewellery piece! If you’re local, I’ll invite you to pop into the shop to view your final piece (I love seeing my clients’ first-look reaction!).

If you’re not able to visit in-person, I’ll send you close-up photos of the piece before I ship it. (And if you want to send me a video or photo of your first-look reaction, that would make my day, just sayin’)

If you want any minor changes I’ll do my very best to make them. Since jewellery is small and delicate, however, I can’t guarantee change requests. If you order a custom ring, I will strive to get the correct size before I make it, but will happily provide a free resizing if it doesn’t fit the intended recipient!

Once you’ve paid the balance of your deposit, all that’s left is to show off your gorgeous custom piece to the world or gift it to the lucky recipient. Here’s to dreams coming true and many years of shiny, happy jewellery-wearing to come!

Good to Know

I offer heirloom jewellery redesign, where I melt down your old gold jewellery and transform it into a beautiful new piece. This way, you can maintain the sentimental value of your gold piece, while enjoying a piece of jewellery that suits your style.

Sometimes people think the cost of redesigning an heirloom piece will be less than creating a piece from new metal, but melting down gold is labour-intensive, so the price is often comparable. Of course, creating something new from a family heirloom or treasured piece is priceless, so keep that in mind when weighing your options!
